Levisticum officinale The common name for lovage is the Maggi plant and it is obvious why from the first time you use this plant. It has the smell and flavour of a good stock and is an indispensable ingredient when making your own stock or soup at home. Can also be used sparingly in stews or casseroles. A perennial which dies back in winter and reappears in spring - give it room as it reaches 150cm. I wouldn't be without this herb.
