Pyrus Communis 'Beurre Hardy' - introduced in the 1820s in Boulogne, France. A medium sized dessert pear with melting juicy flesh and nice flavour. Hardy flowers cope well with late spring frost. Pollinated by Conference, Beurre bosc, Doyenne du Comice, Packham's Triumph, Seckle, Winter Nellis and Nashi.
Pears are easy care fruit to grow and espalier very well into many forms, because of this and thanks to dwarf rootstocks they are now great choices for backyard orchards.
